Options Description

File Types

• *File Type Association:**\ The audio formats CometPlayer supports are all listed here. You can set CometPlayer as default player for particular audio files by ticking the boxes here.
• mp3 Audio: .mp3, .mpa, .mp2
• Windows media audio: .wma
• Other audio: .ogg, .ape, .flac, .wav

• Keep file type association: checking this box enables the default association between CometPlayer and selected audio formats.

HotKeys

Hotkey configuration allows users to set their own keyboard shortcuts.\ Double-click the action name to edit hotkey, press Esc to cancel input. Click "OK" to save the change.

• 1st and 2nd Hotkeys: The 1st and 2nd hotkeys work the same way, they are only enabled when the CometPlayer window is activated.
• Global Hotkeys: Multimedia keys are global keys in default. Global hotkeys are enabled even the CometPlayer window is inactivated.
• Reset hotkeys for this action: cancel your own setting for ONE action, and resume the default.
• Reset hotkeys for all actions: cancel your own setting for ALL actions, and resume the default.

Play

• Playing Control*:

• Load associated .cue file when opening ape/flace file:

  • Prompt when opening file (default): Whenever an ape/flac file is opened, loading associated .cue file will be prompted.
  • Enable: .cue file will be automatically loaded when open an ape/flac file.
  • Disable: .cue file will not be loaded when openan ape/flac file.

• Forward/Rewind Range: To set the time range of fast forward or rewind an audio file.

  • Small: 5 seconds as default. (range: 1-999 seconds)
  • Medium: 20 seconds as default. (range: 1-999 seconds)
  • Large: 30 seconds as default. (range: 1-999 seconds)

• Audio fade in/out*\ Audio fade in/out means the sound comes out/stops gradually in terms of volume. The numbers indicate the time range of fade in and fade out. Checking the boxes will enable volume fade in and out when music starts and stops.

• Play: 300ms as default. (range: 100-10000ms)

• Seek：100ms as default. (range: 100-10000ms)

• Pause: 500ms as default. (range: 100-10000ms)

• Stop: 800ms as default. (range: 100-10000ms)

• Playlist*\

• Save the playlist when exit: Every playlist will be saved when exiting CometPlayer, so users won't need to repeatedly create playlist everytime they use CometPlayer.

• Add similar files to the playlist when opening file: When adding files to playlist, similar files (the first 2 letters in the name are same with object files) in the folder will be recognised and automatically added.

Lyrics

• Colour and font*

• Background colour: To change the background colour of lyrics panel.

• Text normal colour: To change the text colour of lyrics.

• Text highlight colour: To change the highlight colour of lyrics. As few lyrics files have the function to synchronise certain lines in highlight, hence users will easily find out which part of the lyrics is being sung.

• Text font: To change the text font, size and colour.

Appearance

• Tray Icon*

• Minimize to tray icon: CometPlayer will disappear from taskbar and appear in notification area when minimised.

• Always show tray icon: CometPlayer's icon will appear in notification area all the time.

• Program Startup*

• Allow multi players running at the same time: To simultaneously run more than 1 CometPlayers.

Privacy

• Auto Updates*

• Check for updates every week: CometPlayer will automatically search for updates and new version every week; a pop-up dialog will appear to notify updates or upgraded versions.

• Download updates: Allows CometPlayer to download updates automatically.

• Auto Report*

• Report usage statistical information automatically: Reports number of users of CometPlayer to our R&D for statistical use.

Skins

This option enables users to select the player skin they prefer by double-clicking the skin name.

Click “Apply” will provide a preview of the new skin.

The button “Edit” and “New” are complicated and advanced settings of skin, which are more developer oriented. Simpler skin editor is under development and hope to be added in future versions.
